CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER I

Stormwater Program

(Provisional)

 

SALARY:  Between $3,443 to $4,185 per month.

 

FINAL FILING DATE:  Monday, August 31, 2009 at 5:30pm; unless extended.

 

NOTE:  This is a full-time, temporary provisional position with benefits.  This position may end at any time, and there is no guarantee of hours.

 

THE POSITION: The primary duties of this current vacancy include performing field inspections and investigations involving citizen, business, or construction activity that is not in compliance with applicable City stormwater and sewer ordinances and City directives; performing systematic visitations of medium and high risk stormwater pollution-generating activities or sites; checking stormwater hotline on a regular basis; responding in a timely manner to inquiries or complaints relative to construction activities, sewer spills, illegal discharges at industrial/commercial sites as well as resident complaints; providing public education and outreach on issues pertaining to stormwater; and other varied routine code compliance functions.  The incumbent will report to the Stormwater Program Manager.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:  Any combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the duties and responsibilities would be qualifying. A typical qualifying background is experience performing investigative, code enforcement or other work involving extensive public contact involving enforcement of established standards or requirements.  English/Spanish bilingual ability is desirable.

 

LICENSES:  Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License. Possession of a P.C. 832 Certificate is desirable (must be obtained within six months of hire).
