The City of Federal Heights is looking for an Assistant City Engineer/Environmental Compliance to assists the City Engineer with all engineering operations and implements the City’s environmental compliance program including the City’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit regulations, enforcement and reporting. 

Conducts detention pond and construction site compliance inspections, sanitary sewer overflow and general spills compliance and reporting, grease trap inspections, backflow prevention compliance inspections and engineering project inspections. This position will perform specialized and technical work as needed to administer and enforce NPDES (National Pollution Discharge Elimination System) regulations and MS4 storm water permit requirements and provides technical support for the City's storm water system. Additionally, the position provides technical support, administration, and enforcement of the City’s cross connection control program and water sampling and reporting compliance program. This position will be responsible for completing research and analysis and for providing public and related agency notifications and reporting as related to all environmental programs, regulations and concerns. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Possess an Associate’s Degree in civil engineering or related field with AutoCAD experience desired; A minimum of 2 years’ experience with NDPES/MS4 permitting including Erosion Control and/or Storm water Quality BMP Inspection and Maintenance certifications or training. Experience with collecting environmental data, analyzing and evaluating results and implementing remediation. Course work and experience in domestic water quality preferred. Must possess good communication skills and ability to work effectively with City employees, the public and private contractors and consultants. The ability to successfully complete a background check including but not limited to: criminal history search and motor vehicle record (MVR) check is required. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
