Oversees the work of assigned projects and participates in the work itself. 

Responsible for effectively laying out work, maintaining work schedules, and giving technical instructions to crew members.

Essential Functions

Communicate policies, procedures, methods and techniques to crew members; Implements changes in working conditions and processes, use of equipment and work schedules.Supervises and works with a group of employees in various maintenance and operational activities and projects;Assigns work to each crew member; maintains attendance records of assigned employees; compiles, reviews, and approves time card data;Conducts Performance AppraisalsTrains employees when required.Assists workers in resolving individual and work problems;Recommends personnel actions to Superintendent.Independently performs some specialized duties,Work with water meters, prvs, sewer jetting equipment, maintain lift stations,Operate and oversee operation of the camera truck. Performs a variety of basic to skilled labor and technical assignments;Accounts for tools, equipment and supplies used by crew.Prepares for daily work by securing all needed equipment, tools, etc. for the assigned crew;May be in charge of equipment operation and maintenance.Receives and reviews complaints from general public.Reads and interprets construction drawings, job orders and job specifications;May assume duties of Superintendent, as necessary.Perform related work as required and assigned.


Knowledge's: -   Effective labor supervision techniques, hazards and safety precautions of the work involved; thorough knowledge of the mechanical operation of medium to heavy equipment.; working knowledge of materials, equipment and practices involved in construction and maintenance of streets, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and culverts; of water and sewer main installation and repair.
Skills: - Demonstrated skill in preparing written reports and overseeing projects; skill in the operation of equipment necessary to perform the functions of the job. Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office Products
Abilities: - To understand and transmit oral and written instructions; keep records, submit work reports, work outdoors under adverse weather conditions; to establish and maintain good working relationships with employees, other supervisors and the public; to perform arithmetical calculations; to perform heavy manual work as required. Available for Emergencies 24/7

Training - High School diploma or equivalent and Certification in Water Distribution, Level II; Certification in Wastewater Collection, Level II required.
Experience -     Three (3) years of public works or utility construction or maintenance experience which includes equipment experience.  Prefer minimum 2 years supervisory or lead worker experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Special Requirements

Possession of a valid Colorado Class A Commercial Driver's license or the ability to obtain one within one year of appointment; Certification in Water Distribution, Level III; Certification in Wastewater Collection, Level III required within one year of appointment.
